A couple of movies I liked: Babel (trailer gives away some parts) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwR1z7XBPJs a story about how an out of the blue crime connected the lives of a few groups of people with very different backgrounds. Takes place in Morocco, US, Mexico, and Japan

Gold (somewhat based on a true story, which this article describes, giving away the ending): https://www.benzinga.com/general/education/17/01/8919005/the-real-life-story-behind-the-movie-gold) About looking for gold in Indonesia

Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable (spoiler backstory https://hyperallergic.com/391158/damien-hirst-treasures-from-the-wreck-of-the-unbelievable-venice-punta-della-dogana-palazzo-grassi/) documentary about a hunt for sunken treasure ship off the east coast of Africa

The Fall (trailer gives away some parts) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwsYyRc9j4g about two people in the hospital and a story one tells the other, which is acted out on screen. Very beautiful movie visually.

One TV show: La Casa de Papel (called Money Heist on Netflix) about people in Spain with a very detailed and interesting plan to get a lot of money. The trailer has bad overdubbing, but the show is in Spanish with subtitles if you want

Happy watching everyone!

This season of Curb is probably one of my favorite yet!
Also-everyone is bothering me to watch Tiger King on Netflix.  Looks interesting/hilarious  as hayll.

Hi Mistrress Von Dietz!

Tiger King is mental!  Joe Exotic is a loon.  I had been reading up on him for years.  All I kept thinking was how my little sister and my nieces would want to pet the big tigers.  Those are wild animals!  It was cruel.  if you can find it, check out the documentary "The Elephant in The Living Room".  It's really interesting.

Hope this finds you well!

Still got a lot of old Curb to work through before I worry about the new season.  Other than the Ballad of Buster Scruggs, I don't think I've seen anything Jessy suggested :(

I finished watching the Ken Burns series "The Civil War" and moved on to "Shaka Zulu." After that I may watch "Shogun" once again. Of course, when nobody's home I revert to porn.

I loved "The Civil War" so much, that's one of those things where I almost feel like you should have to watch it before you're allowed to vote in elections!  I vaguely remember seeing the last few minutes of "Shaka Zulu" and I've never seen "Shogun," though I don't know why as I love that period of history (thanks mostly to video games by Tecmo-Koei.)

Threads like this always make me wonder what "essential" movies the people I know have never seen.  For whatever reason, I found myself wondering if all of the Mistresses (particularly the younger ones) have ever seen "The Princess Bride."  If not, I propose a future session where they watch it while using me as a footstool (so I can follow the story by listening quietly!)  Other "essential" films include "The Blues Brothers" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," which both just go to show I watched a lot of WGN as a kid.

JAG:

I have observed that the average American knows very little of her history and current form of government. Watching "The Civil War" ought not to be a history lesson to the viewer but in many cases would be. "Shogun" covers the last few years of the 1500's and the first couple of years of the 1600's in Japan. "Shaka's" story covers a longer span of time from the second half of the 1700's through 1828 when Shaka was assassinated. In general, both stories are the same as Europeans get involved in cultures and intrigue of  different lands. Very absorbing.

Princess Bride is a childhood classic. Loved it. Fred Savage was a "cutie" to me when I was a "cutie" LOL
