Milkdud Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 I was reminiscing with a friend about the old Hell Fire Club today. She asked me if there are any dungeon space/club in NY that could compare in terns of its overall sleeze and depravity;-) She very much loved to voyeur there on trips to NY. Any opinions? Suggestions? d/leatherwings Quote
maid.fifi Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Right now, Paddles is the only open hetro playspace in NYC, so its your best bet and probably your only choice. Former mayor Giuliani made sure that clubs like Hellfire and Vault can never revive in New York. Quote
Milkdud Posted August 18, 2008 Author Report Posted August 18, 2008 Thank you Maid Fifi. I've been to Paddles several timesover the years, usually during events, but its just not the same:-( You can't get your sleeze on like you could at Hell Fire. The Power Exchange in SF has a little of that. If my friend, fem identified, could pass as a guy, she/he would be in the men only dungeons of course;-) d/leatherwings Quote
coil Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 This weekend for 3 days it was like the old Hell Fire at Floating World .coil Quote
Guest Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Coil, I've never heard of Floating world. Please tell me more. I'm curious and have been to Hell Fire right before it closed and it was definitely a weird experience since I had not understood or entered the BDSM world yet. :?: Quote
coil Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 The Hell Fire an Vault i am taslking about are from the early to 70s to 80s.Floating World was 3 days of Demos by some of the best teachers of BDSM. The play space is 40,000 sq ft ,LOADED with equipment that you will never find in any Dungeon . What you have ever seen or thought of doing was eather taught or you could see in the dungeon at night . coil Quote
Milkdud Posted August 20, 2008 Author Report Posted August 20, 2008 Coil, Yes, do tell more. I couldn't find much info about Floating World and I haven't heard of it before d/leatherwings Quote
coil Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Floating World took f there web site off till next year , it's like tes fes but much BIGGERcoil Quote
Milkdud Posted August 23, 2008 Author Report Posted August 23, 2008 Coil, I'll have to look out for Floating World next year. I was at a west coast event earlier this month and had the chance to see several quite extreme scenes I had never witnessed before including a fish hook suspension (spiritual in nature) and a cannibalism scene (complete with cutting and suturing) I am interested in the former but not the latter:-) Lots of beautiful rope and saran wrap suspensions too. d/leatherwings Quote
maid.fifi Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 Floating World is a collaborative effort amongst most of the tri-state (NY, NJ, PA) lifestyle groups. For security, the website has been taken down, so there is no more information online. The event was well organized, and was well staffed by experienced volunteers. For its second year, it was another smashing success and has established itself as part of the North East lifestyle circuit; (Fetish Flea, TESFEST, BlackRose, Camp Crucible, Dark Odyssey, Leather Retreat and now Floating World). They hosted over 140 classes and had great presenters. Jay Wiseman taught classes on medical emergencies, s&m and the law, and he even signed my SM 101 book. Delano, who works as an instructor for Midori's rope dojo gave beginner and advance classes on rope. Playspace is first rate as nearly every piece of furniture is by Crucible. Coil,I've never heard of Floating world. Please tell me more. I'm curious and have been to Hell Fire right before it closed and it was definitely a weird experience since I had not understood or entered the BDSM world yet. :?: Quote
Milkdud Posted August 27, 2008 Author Report Posted August 27, 2008 Maid fifi, Thanks for the info. I've never taken a class with Delano but Medori's classes are always jamm packed now as she has become an even bigger rock star. I'm curious as to which presenters taught single-tail beginner and advanced at floating world. d/leatherwings Quote
