I ask the question because I am a scorpio sun sign/aquarius moon and I have been told in the past that would make me an unlikely submissive. I understand there are many more determining factors besides just sun sign, Vedic astrology put more emphasis on the moon sign, which is supposed to more closely represent the inner you. Astrology may be complete bunk but I do identify with the scorpios interests in the dark side of things and deeper understanding of power relationships. Just curious about others thoughts on this and if they believe that their astrological signs have anything to do with their bdsm orientation. Any insight into Chinese or other non-western astrology on this topic would be helpful as well. I am a wood ox according to Chinese astrology. Quote

Footslave, My zodiac sign is Cancer, ruling planet is the Moon and even though I am not an avid follower of astrology, many characteristic traits that describe a Cancerian, I can easily identify with and draw parallels to my own feelings and behavior, so given the fact that I never thought to relate this particular science to how I fit into the world of BDSM, I am sure if I looked deep enough, I could find a connection. I'm a Saggitarius with a Leo moon and Capricorn rising, and have had a very hard time being completely submissive to someone to whom I have no emotional connection with. Even with an emotional connection (which the moon facilitates) I tend to still not be able to give up complete control. I'm afraid that the inner me is more of a control freak than the outer me! It has become a fun hobby to ask most of my subs what their sun sign is...just for reference. I agree with you about Scorpios in general having a darker, more psychological understanding but unfortunately have not had many Scorpios to play with as of late. Since we have not really played together I could only speculate that maybe you're not a complete submissive.. With respect to the sun signs it has always been striking to me how it fits for me. I am a Virgo. Virgos are said to be shy, but when they make friends they are very open, devoted and loyal. More important is their independence, not relying on help of others. Maybe because they are perfectionists and want to keep everything in their own hands. It is striking how the Chinese and western horoscopes have similarities. I am a snake and one of the characteristics is that snakes will plot and scheme to make certain things turn out exactly as they want them to (like the Virgo ‘perfect is almost good enough’ motto). Moreover I am a watersnake who is affectionate with his friends but do not show this site of personality to others. My astrological explanation for my bdsm feelings is, that to compensate my feeling for having everything in control in my daily life, I need to balance that by giving myself sometimes completely in the hands of someone I fully trust, and often in an extreme (painful) way to compensate for my hang to extreme perfectionism. What chance do I have against the mighty Dragon? I think astrology (both Eastern and Western) has much truth to it as do celestial events (full moons, solar flares, Mercury Retrograde) in how they affect our lives. I believe that every living thing is somehow connected in a very expansive way and that's why certain large events seem to affect smaller ones. As above, so below. I enjoy finding deeper meaning within something as simple as spending time with certain people that come into my life and discovering that each situation and encounter is a learning experience. Even if it's to learn basic facts of the universe like 'you reap what you sow'. Quote
