What is the best Manhattan or NYC neighborhood (for a fetish/bdsm addict)?

I am considering a move from Europe to NYC. The nice treatment I received at the Fetish Fortress last time I was there plays a tiny bit in this idea.

I wonder if the natives can comment on where is the best place to live.

(Please don't say just Chinatown. I would surely love to live full time at the Fetish Fortress, but I don't think I can afford that yet)

My work place would be somewhere in Chelsea. I wonder however where I can find the best fetish/bdsm scene and people.

How exciting! Starting a life in a new country is a big deal, living in NYC is a dream for most. Lucky you ;-)

Chelsea is one of the biggest supporters of Rainbow Pride. Some would say it's a "Little San Fransisco" maybe? What's wrong with living close to where you work? ;-) The F train would bring you *straight* from Chelsea to the front doors of the Fortress in minutes.

I'd say the West Village is like "Chelsea-PLUS". Chelsea/Business in the front, West Village/Party in the back LOL

Being in Chinatown means everything above 14th Street is considered "nosebleed turf". Forget about traveling to another borough! Manhattanites are so spoiled. Manhattan is approximately 2 miles East to West and about 12 miles North to South. Hemming and hawwing at the mere thought of having to transfer more than once on the subway or ride it for more than 20 minutes.

Tribeca (Triangle Below Canal) does well in capturing the beauty of "Downtown NYC" but it comes with a pricey-tag.

Seems there are more young/professional couples/families in the UWS (Upper West Side) whereas older/single/spawn-less reside in the UES (so it seems...).

Hope that was a little bit helpful (?). It's weird because I don't really take advantage of the city on my own but when I have visitors I love playing tour guide LOL

Let us know where you end up? Or at least where you're thinking of (ending up)? Good luck!
